Week 25 Triathlon Training Recap: Fast Runs, Rain Therapy, and a Steakhouse Sendoff

Monday: Outdoor run

I had golf league at night so I got up before work and ran my favorite 6.5 mile loop. It was especially nice because it was cool, but humid so it was easy to warm up, but not so hot at that time of the day. I ran it in a 7:41 pace.

Nutrition: I had a protein shake in the morning after my run and then eggs with toast for lunch. After golf league we had some pork tacos from the instant pot that were delicious.

Tuesday: Outdoor run

I was originally planning to go for a bike ride on Tuesday, but the day got away from me and quite frankly, I enjoy running more. It rained most of the day, including the first half of my run, which was actually a little therapeutic to run in the steady rain. The downside was how wet my shoes, and ultimately my socks got. I went for 5.2 miles at a 7:46 pace.

Nutrition: For lunch I had eggs, toast and a protein shake. Dinner was a chicken salad.

Wednesday: Off

It was a hectic day plus I was meeting a friend for dinner so I decided to use it as my off day.

Nutrition: I fasted throughout the day before going to get pizza and dessert with my friend. I definitely ate too much and was feeling stuffed when I got home.

Thursday: Body weight workout & sand volleyball

I decided to do a body weight workout on Thursday which was about 30 minutes of full body and then 15 minutes of core work. Thursdays I play on a sand volleyball team whenever I’m free so this was my first week playing.

Nutrition: I had chicken, peppers and watermelon for lunch before having salmon on a salad for dinner. We also went and got ice cream after sand volleyball.

Friday: Swim workout

I got back in the pool and swam over my lunch hour on Friday. I went nonstop for 30 minutes before getting out and showering before getting back to the office. We also went for a couple mile walk in the evening to get some more steps in.

Nutrition: Lunch was a protein shake and watermelon and then we went to a retirement party where I had a little bit of pizza and a couple beers. We grabbed tacos from a local place for dinner and then had some popcorn later on.

Saturday: Outdoor run

It was a busy Saturday trying to get some things done around the house before going on a date night so I got a 6.5 mile run in before the day got away from me. I went at a 7:43 pace.

Nutrition: I had a banana and some watermelon before the run and then a protein shake and waffles for a brunch later in the morning. For our date night we went to our favorite pizza place about an hour away and had authentic neapolitan style pizza and a couple drinks.

Sunday: Core workout and stretching

Sunday was a long travel day for me getting to New York for a few days of work. I left home early in the morning to get to the airport and to a few meetings in the afternoon. I finished up around 5:30 and did a quick ab workout in the hotel gym and stretched to loosen up from sitting on a plane.

Nutrition: I left home at 4:45am and all I had eaten was a biscoff cookie on the plane so I took myself to a brazilian steakhouse that was next to my hotel. I got the most out of my experience and probably ate at least two pounds of steak.
